My projects in Africa over the years have centered mostly in Tanzania with water wells, sanitation, the Katavi Girls School in Usevia and our efforts on economic development through our business development and micro credit funding for women entrepreneurs in Sumbawanga and western Tanzania. Recently we have expanded our business development into Liberia where we are teaching women to become beekeepers and entrepreneurs.
I feel really lucky to be joining a team to travel to Nairobi, Kenya in March, 2024 to work with HEART of Africa, an NGO working in support of HIV women, girls education, malaria prevention and homebuilding. A new experience for me and a chance to get some experience in the health side of supporting the poor in the developing world.
During the trip, we will be working in the poorest areas of Nairobi and Kisii which will include home visits into some of the most notorious slums in the world. We will build homes in villages to reunite the disenfranchised HIV women and bring HOPE to girls and women for a better life through a supported environment of resources through HEART.
While on this trip, I will also be meeting with Rotary Clubs in Kenya to develop future water and sanitation initiatives along with exploring expansion of economic development opportunities for female entrepreneurs.
